The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) on Thursday hosted the second edition of its 2024/25 Monthly Awards, recognizing exceptional contributions and performances across the regional football landscape. The ceremony, held at the elegant Nathan Quao Auditorium in the CLOGSAG Building, Accra, celebrated players, coaches, and referees whose efforts stood out during the months of February, March, April and May.
The awards featured six major categories, showcasing the depth of talent in both the men’s and women’s divisions of the Greater Accra Regional Leagues.
The ceremony drew a distinguished crowd, including GARFA Chairman Samuel Aboabire (popularly known as Katar), Vice Chairman Gabriel Godwin Kwao, and Daasobre Adu Asare, the GFA’s RFA Coordinator, who represented GFA President Kurt Okraku. Also in attendance were GARFA Patron H. H. D. Adika, Ghanaian goalkeeping legend Ben Owu, former Black Queens goalkeeper Fafali Dumehesi, former Liberty Professional Coach George Lamptey, GARFA Executive Council members, Frederick Aglago (CEO of Ashlid Sports), and representatives from SOCCABET and Game TV.

Delivering a message on behalf of the GFA President, Daasobre Adu Asare lauded the efforts of all awardees and nominees. “I bring you greetings from the President of the GFA. Congratulations to all winners and nominees—your contributions are helping to build football in the region and across Ghana. I urge you not to relent in your efforts but to continue striving for excellence,” he stated.
He also commended the GARFA Executive Council, SOCCABET, Ashlid Sports, Game TV, and all stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in organizing a successful Zonal League and supporting the Monthly Awards initiative.
GARFA’s Monthly Awards continue to shine a spotlight on regional football excellence, contributing significantly to the growth and visibility of the sport at the grassroots level in Ghana.
