The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) officially launched the 2024/25 Middle League in a vibrant ceremony held at the Nathan Quao Auditorium, CLOGSAG Building in Accra. The event, which was streamed live on Game TV, Clog TV and the GARFA Facebook page, took place on Thursday, and marked a significant milestone in regional football, with the competition expanding from six to eight participating clubs for the first time in its history.
The prestigious launch attracted dignitaries, club representatives, sponsors, football legends, and media personnel, signaling GARFA’s growing profile in grassroots football. The new-look Middle League is proudly sponsored by SOCCABET, Ashlid Sports, and Game TV.
In a shift from previous formats, this season’s competition features eight clubs—comprising five zonal winners and three best-performing runners-up from the five traditional GARFA zones. The qualified teams are:
Zone Winners:
Tema United FC (Zone 1)
A5 Rences (Zone 2)
Newtown Youth FC (Zone 3)
Kitu Seniors (Zone 4)
John Paintsil Academy (Zone 5)
Best Runners-Up:

During the launch, League Board Member Patrick Martey Boye conducted the live balloting session, which determined the group stage pairings. The eight clubs have been drawn into two groups of four and will begin their Middle League campaign on June 14, 2025, at the Teshie McDan Astroturf. The finals is slated for June 29, 2025, at a venue yet to be announced.
As part of efforts to support participating teams, GARFA—through its partners—distributed football logistics to all eight clubs. Each team received 10 footballs from Ashlid Sports, 2 sets of bibs courtesy of SOCCABET, customized ball bags provided by GARFA
The official Middle League trophy was unveiled by GARFA Chairman Samuel Aboabire, alongside Ashlid Sports CEO Frederick Aglago and SOCCABET Representative Enoch Selorm. This year’s competition is dubbed, “GARFA SOCCABET MIDDLE LEAGUE”.
Patrons were treated to live traditional music by the Tordey Music and Dance Ensemble, creating an engaging and festive atmosphere. The event was attended by several football figures and stakeholders, including, GARFA Executive Committee members, GFA RFA’s Coordinator Daasobre Adu Asare, GARFA Patron H.H.D. Adika, former national team players Ben Owu and Fafali Dumehesi, former Liberty Professionals coach George Lamptey, Prisons Ladies CEO and GHALCA ExCo member ASP Naomi Fainusatu, Officials from SOCCABET, Ashlid Sports, Game TV, and the media

“The Middle League is a step above the Zonal Leagues,” he said. “I encourage all teams to give their best, not only to win but to elevate the image of their clubs and GARFA. Let us play the game in a safe and respectful environment, free from violence and disputes.”
Aboabire also expressed gratitude to GARFA’s Executive Committee, partners, clubs, and the football-loving public for their continuous support.
“With your continued backing, GARFA will remain the benchmark for grassroots football development in Ghana,” he concluded.
