The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) is mourning the loss of James Lamina, popularly known as Borgay, who passed away yesterday morning after a short illness in Tema. Borgay was a dedicated member of the GARFA Juvenile Committee and Operations Manager of True Democracy FC, the 2023/24 GARFA Division Two Champions.
GARFA Chairman, Samuel Aboabire, led a delegation of Executive Council members and friends to pay their respects to Borgay’s family at their residence. During the visit, Chairman Aboabire expressed his condolences and praised Borgay’s passion and commitment to developing football in the Greater Accra Region and beyond.
“Borgay was a humble and dedicated individual who always put the success of football first,” Aboabire said. “His caring and loving nature made him a strong advocate for children, and he will be deeply missed. We offer our condolences to the family and assure them of our unwavering support in planning his funeral and burial.”
The Family Head, on behalf of Borgay’s family, thanked the GARFA entourage for their visit, saying, “We are touched by your presence and appreciate your love for our son. We look forward to working with you in planning his funeral. We also share your loss and hope that your organization will find a worthy replacement to carry on Borgay’s dreams.”
Borgay’s passing has sent shockwaves through the football community, and he will be remembered for his tireless efforts to promote the development of the game. GARFA will miss his dedication and enthusiasm, and his legacy will continue to inspire others in the football fraternity.
