The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA), in partnership with headline sponsor SOCCABET, celebrated its five zonal champions over the weekend during a series of coronation matches across the region.
The champions, who have each secured automatic qualification to the 2025 GARFA Division Two Middle League, were honoured with trophies and medals in recognition of their outstanding performances and resilience throughout the season.
In Zone 1, Tema United FC emerged as the top performers across all zones, amassing an impressive 75 points — the highest among the champions.
In Zone 2, A5 Rences FC, former participants in the 2022/23 National Division One League, reclaimed their dominance by winning the zone with 61 points.
Newtown Youth FC, a familiar force in the Middle League, secured their fifth appearance with a strong 65-point finish to win Zone 3.
Zone 4 saw Kitu Seniors make history by clinching their zone with 60 points, affirming their rising status in the competition.
In Zone 5, John Paintsil Academy, coached by Black Stars legend and current assistant coach showcased grit and consistency, topping the zone with 70 points, with a game yet to be played.
Three additional spots in the Middle League are reserved for the best-performing second-placed teams. Two of these have already been confirmed:
True Life FC (Zone 1) amassed a total of 66 points, while
Great Ambition FC also came through in Zone 2 with 61 points.
The final spot remains contested in Zone 5, with Asanska FC (61 points) and Emmanuel City FC (60 points) neck and neck. Both teams play their decisive final matches on Thursday. Emmanuel City face a tough away fixture against zone winners John Paintsil Academy, while Asanska FC host Accra Elite Academy in a must-win clash.
GARFA Chairman Samuel Aboabire expressed his appreciation for the clubs’ commitment and the support from corporate partners.
“We congratulate all our zonal champions and the three best second-placed teams. The journey has been long and competitive, with clubs playing a minimum of 30 matches in Zones 1 to 4 and 34 in Zone 5. This year’s league has been elevated by the involvement of our partners—SOCCABET, Ashlid Sports, and Game TV—who brought a fresh dynamism that greatly enhanced player performance and club visibility.”
Aboabire added that the 2025 Middle League will be more than just a pathway to the National Division One League—it will be a celebration of grassroots football and a spectacle for fans across the region.
As anticipation builds ahead of Thursday’s final qualification match, all eyes will be on the final club to join what promises to be one of the most competitive Middle Leagues in recent years.
