The 2025/26 SOCCABET Division Two League commenced yesterday with thrilling action as Auroras FC, the junior side of Accra Hearts of Oak, claimed a 2-1 victory over Sporting Club Accra in the season opener.
The ceremonial kickoff was conducted by Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) Chairman, Samuel Aboabire, flanked by members of his Executive Council and representatives of headline sponsor SOCCABET. A large crowd was on hand to witness the festivities and the opening fixture, which lived up to expectations in drama and intensity.
Auroras FC struck first through attacking midfielder Prosper Okudzeto, wearing jersey number 15, who calmly finished to put his side ahead. Sporting Club Accra responded swiftly, with winger Razark Abdul (No. 7) leveling the score to restore parity.
However, David Hanson emerged as the hero for Auroras, netting the decisive goal to seal a hard-fought win. The match also saw the season’s first red card, shown to Sporting Club Accra goalkeeper Faith Adzanu for a professional foul—adding to the intensity of the contest.
