The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) has officially brought the 2025/26 football season to a close and opened the 2026/27 season with its annual Congress held at the CLOGSAG Conference Hall at the Ministries in Accra.
The Congress brought together key stakeholders of the Association, including club representatives, referees, coaches and other members of the football fraternity, to deliberate on the activities and programmes of the Association.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were GARFA Chairman, Samuel Aboabire; Vice Chairman, Gabriel Godwin Kwao; Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Gideon Fosu; GFA RFA’s Coordinator, Rev. Adu-Asare; Mrs. Phyllis Marku Mensah; Vice Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Mr. H. H. D. Adika; GARFA Patron, representatives of Ashlid Sports, and members of the League Board.
Key deliberations at the Congress focused on the activities of the 2025/26 football season, the audited accounts for the financial years ending 2024/25 and 2025/26, as well as the budget for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
The Congress also discussed plans for the operationalisation of the 2026/27 SOCCABET Division Two League, the Women’s Division One League, District Football Associations (DFA) Division Three Leagues and the Colts Leagues.
As part of preparations for the new season, GARFA also distributed Ashlid Sports-branded footballs to clubs to support their preparations and enhance their readiness for the various competitions.
The annual Congress marks an important transition for the Association as stakeholders look ahead to the 2026/27 football season, with the various competitions expected to get underway following the completion of the necessary preparations.
