Greater Accra Regional Football Association triumphed over Eastern Region to secure third place in KGL U-17 Inter- Regional Colts Tournament in Kumasi on 9th October, 2023.
GARFA sailed through the knock-out stage of the competition after its impressive victories against Upper East, Northern and Volta Region before playing Brong Ahafo in the semifinals and Eastern Region for the third and fourth place. The match started off with Mohammed Iddrissu giving Greater Accra the lead in the first half, before Michael Awuli‘s 38th minute goal. Eastern Region managed to pull one back, after Derrick Akpene had extended GARFA’s lead in the 41st minute to three goals, which resulted in a 3:1 defeat to Eastern Region.
The Red and White boys’ Bright Okutu clinched the discovery of the year award, David Kwame Koranteng attained the player of the tournament award as well as Derrick Adzofo Akpene of Adenta sweeping home the top scorer award in the just ended competition in Kumasi. The tournament ended as host, Ashanti Region, lifted the trophy after a tremendous 2:2 draw against Brong Ahafo, where the host region won by penalty shoot-out.
