The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) organized a Referees Assessors Course for a carefully selected professionals (Match Commissioners) who shall provide data for the forthcoming monthly Best Referees Award Scheme.
This was an attempt to ensure Fair Play in its ongoing Division Two and other regional Leagues.
It was held on January 11, 2023 at the GHALCA Conference Hall at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The exercise requires training of very experienced and disciplined Match Commissioners of GARFA who shall provide data necessary for the awarding of best referees from different match venues.
It was the first of its kind in the region and as a result , very competent resource persons were employed to ensure transparency and credibility of the process.
Mr Alex N. Kotey who doubles as the GFA’S Head of Referees and Referee Assessors Course Director and Mr Thomas Nunoo (GARFA Referees Technical Instructor) are appointed Instructors for the course.
FIFA criteria for Referees Assessment were adopted to train participants.
This will go a long way in improving the performance of match officials appointed to officiate in matches under GARFA. Thereby, bringing back the much needed love in the game.
The work of GARFA Referees Assessors Committee which is Chaired by Mr. J.A. Amenyah (GARFA Exco member) will be more enhanced by the end of this exercise.
