GARFA TO ROLL OUT THE 9TH BATCH OF GFA/CAF LICENSE D COACHING COURSE AT PRAMPRAM (GSCE)

The Greater Accra Regional Football Association has made tremendous efforts in creating more opportunities for grassroot football coaches to be licensed. In as much as the program is run by the Technical Directorate of Ghana Football Association, mandate has been given to the Regional Football Associations to organize it administratively.

GARFA has set the pace by successfully organizing and completing 8 (eight) batches. Over 300 grassroot football coaches have been licensed to handle grassroot football in Greater Accra. Registration for the 9th batch is ongoing and forms can be picked at GARFA’s office at the Accra Sports Stadium (Media Centre).

Some prominent and iconic footballers , some retired, have taken advantage of the opportunity and are deployed to positively impact on the beauty of the game. The likes of Bernard Don Bortey, Sammy Adjei, Ben Adjei, Awudu Issaka (The Disco Dancer), Fataw Dauda (Lion), Eric Kwabena Bekoe, Joseph Tagoe, Emmanuel Armah (Senegal), Gladson Awako, Stanley Afidzi and Joe Amoateng, just to mention a few, are all products of Greater Accra licensed coaches and are authorized members of the Greater Accra Regional Coaches Association.

The Chairman of the region (Mr. Samuel Aboabire) has employed all mechanism needed to reduce the cost of the course and made it easy for all to apply and be licensed. His administration has created convenient environment for the acquisition of knowledge and skill by the coaches to promote and improve grassroot football development.

The GARFA dream has been to champion the course of grassroot football and all that concerns it. It is a joy to note that, this dream is gradually emerging into reality.

The Ghana Football Association, in their bid to correct the fundamental error in grassroot football development , has cautioned all Division Two clubs to use licensed coaches at their Technical bench.
