GARFA CHAIRMAN ADDRESSES CONGRESS MEN AND WOMEN AT THE GARFA ANNUAL CONGRESS 2023/24 FOOTBALL SEASON

The long awaited GARFA Grand Annual Congress eventually took place at the Accra Sports Stadium (GHALCA Conference Hall) on Thursday September 14, 2023.

The GARFA Chairman, Mr. Samuel Aboabire had the privilege of addressing all Congress men and women on State of GARFA affairs.

Recognition was given to Max TV Media for doing GARFA the honors of telecasting the Middle League live on Max Tv following their hard work which were obvious in our mileage content on most social media platforms.

Some players numbering about 1,115 of GARFA Division Two League were privileged to be transferred and signed on International contracts, following the impeccable performance during our league season which caught the attention of notable European Scouts were acknowledged.

Not forgetting the innumerable size who have had transfers and signing to higher Divisional clubs in our local league. i.e Division One and the Premier side of the Ghana Football Association.

GARFA’s impact has been further appraised following one of our very own, Jonathan Sowah, who won GARFA 2021/22 Football Season Goal King, had a call up to the National team, The Black Stars of Ghana. The icing of the cake was where he featured and gave a crucial assist to Jordan Ayew for a third goal in the Black Stars friendly match against Liberia. GARFA remains proud for creating avenues for the young and talented to pursue their God-given career.

The Chairman agreed with his Exco members to maintain the affiliation and officiating fees considering the economic distress the country is suffering now. 

‘Despite the current economic down turns with high inflations, Affiliation and Officiating Fees shall remain the same as that of last season.’

With regards to GFA Subversions to the Regional Football Associations, especially allocated for officiating fees, a befitting approach has been structured for its utilization. 

‘GARFA shall establish a five-member committee comprising of Division Two Clubs, Districts and Women Clubs to deliberate and decide as to how the GARFA Share of the GFA Officiating Fee Support to grassroots Football shall be used.’

Highlights on the need for sponsorship was made by the Chairman to assure members of financial relieve strategies in place.

‘Currently, GARFA is in deliberations with some potential sponsors and partners who are preparing to come on board.’

The Chairman commiserated Clubs who could not escape the GARFA Division Two relegation belt and appreciated their contribution towards the Association. Some kept impeccable performances in the first round of the season but could just not hit the mark. Toman Marines FC, Ashaiman Revelation FC and Felanth fc of Zone 1, IBT FC, Real Athletic FC and Nungua Royals of Zone 2, C.F.C FC, Foot Connect FC and

Pinnacle Ciroma FC all of Zone 3, Adusa Sharp Arrows FC, Accra Five Stars FC and Koans FC of Zone 4, Jayash Soccer Academy, African Panthers FC and Emmanuel FC of Zone 5, Asooya Young Talents FC, Patron FC and Asutuary Estate United FC of Zone 6.

As we are light heartedly referred to as the cemetery of the Division One club of the Ghana Football Association, it was sad to welcome back Rences Football Club who gave good competition in last two season’s grand finale. Tudu Mighty Jet could not escape the Division One relegation zone either.

New entrants into the Division Two league were congratulated and welcomed into the Division Two circle. The likes of Asanska FC from the Ga-East, Ashaiman City FC of Ashaiman, Tema Faith FC of Tema, Ultimate FC of Ga-North, Player Link Sporting Club of the Damgbe West, Accra North’s Mendez FC, Ada

Young Madrid FC of the Damgbe East, Record Breakers FC of Damgbe South, Morjisco Kakraba FC of Ga South, Papase Victory FC of the Ga West, Adabraka Elders FC of the Accra West and Sambo 4 FC of the Accra East Football Association.

GARFA was immensely pleased to bid fare well to our gallant champion, Still Believe Football Club for their qualification and promotion to the Division One League of the Ghana Football Association.

The 2023/24 Greater Accra Regional Football Association Division Two League Season is scheduled to start between November 3-5, 2023.

Heartfelt gratitude were sent to Executive Council members, Club owners and stakeholders, key individuals whose contribution and sacrifices have only advanced the course of GARFA nationally.
