The GARFA 2023/24 Division Two League witnessed a robust start, with all participating clubs strongly represented. The league comprises 86 clubs, strategically divided into six major zones, with a unique All-Play-All Zonal League format. Zones 5 and 6 are pioneering the Competition Matching System (CMS), aiming to expand its use in the upcoming season.
The first round showcased intense competition, yielding a total of 1,582 goals, with Zone Five leading the goal tally at 313.
Notably, 18 hat-tricks were celebrated, with recipients rewarded by the Greater Accra Regional Football Association.
Each of the 86 Division Two Clubs received footballs from the Greater Accra Regional Football Association.
This was in connection with a promise, the GFA President made at the Annual Congress at KNUST to supply footballs to the RFA’s to be given to the Division Two, Women Division 1,Division 3 and Juvenile clubs at the grass-root level.
Zonal league tables were updated, and the second-round fixtures were primed for action.
However, two league centers, New Fadama AstroTurf and Ashaiman Sakasaka Parks, faced bans due to poor conditions. On a positive note, protest cases notably decreased, thanks to the effective implementation of the CMS.
The league’s second round is set to resume on Friday, 16th February 2024, across approved league centers in the Greater Accra Region.
